When I ventured into the world of self-publishing via Kindle, I discovered another world: that of the cover artist. There are many who will create custom covers for you, but I lucked out and found some who sell premade covers in addition to doing custom jobs.
Not all my books are released yet. Some are still in development, but I went ahead and purchased covers when they spoke to me. I learned a hard lesson immediately that if you spot a cover you like, snatch it up.
Before I bought my first one, I hemmed and hawed about purchasing after seeing a beautiful cover that would’ve worked for one of my books. After sleeping on it, I went back to the site the next morning determined to take the plunge only to find a big old SOLD across the front of it.
I was crushed and decided from then on out to buy ’em as I saw ’em.
The designers are often also very nice about linking to authors and mentioning their works when a book with their cover is published.
I decided to dedicate a page to all the designers I’ve bought from. I am very grateful to these people for sharing their talents and giving my books such beautiful “faces” and the visual personalities I had in my mind’s eye as I was writing them.
Below is the designer’s name linked to their site with the name of my books that I bought covers from them for.
Go On Write – The Devil’s Daughter, Searching for Mrs. Valentine, Twice Turned, HJ Guide to Halloween Hot Spots, The Cat Who Saw Death, The Shadow Stalker, HJ Guide to the Best Places to Find UFOs
PreMadeEbookCoverShop.com – The Ghost of Laurie Floyd
SelfPubBookCovers.com – Shadow People and Cursed Objects, Shadyside
TheBookCoverDesigner.com – Forever & Always: A Past Life Love Story
I haven’t purchased from the following…yet.
I hope to, if my muse sees fit to keep gracing me with stories to tell. There are many beautiful covers on these sites. I just don’t have a body to give to their faces yet.
