At the end of July, I received an email from someone on the editorial staff at NashvilleVoyager Magazine. In part, it said, “…we’re interviewing local entrepreneurs, creatives and community leaders for our Inspiring Stories series.” She was curious if I’d be interested in participating.
Well, technically it was not addressed to me. It was addressed to Haunt Jaunts and was sent to an HJ email address, all of which I have forwarded to my Gmail.
Anyway, emails that don’t address me by name normally get deleted but… Out of curiosity (and maybe a touch of vanity?) I went to check out the link to get a feel for what NashvilleVoyager was all about. (I don’t know about you, but I don’t get interview requests every day, so yeah. I’m not immune to flattery!)
As I looked around and read some of the interviews, I found myself swept up. I was immediately impressed by the layout, but check out all my fellow Middle Tennesseans with so many interesting stories!
But what was NashvilleVoyager really all about? Luckily they had a handy About section to sum it up:
NashvilleVoyager is part of the LA-based Voyage Group of Magazines. Our mission is to promote mom and pops, artists, creatives, makers and small businesses by providing a platform for these hidden gems to tell their stories in their own words.
It seemed legit enough…not to mention a great traffic-driving model. I mean, it’s brilliant. You interview all sorts of different people and let them drive traffic to you when they share their links with everyone they know. Super smart.
Plus, it puts positivity and inspiration in the world because a lot of these folks have some really neat origin stories and reasons for doing what it is they do.
My interview went live on August 31. (I know, I know. I’m late in sharing it. I kept meaning to and then didn’t.)
It not only rehashes the story of why I started Haunt Jaunts (thanks, Cancer!), but I also talk about navigating roadblocks and how I feel about risk-taking. To read it, visit NashvilleVoyager Magazine.
