Earlier this year Amanda from Spook Eats included me among those she tagged on socials about her new paranormal journal, which will be called The Feminine Macabre. She was looking for paranormal women who might be interested in submitting something.
It piqued my interest, but would I have a chance to submit? The deadline wasn’t until February 15, but at the time she tagged me, I was working to meet a deadline for Valentine’s Week posts for Netflix Life. On top of keeping up with HJ’s blog, pod and YouTube.
Would I have time?
I really wanted to find time. As I posted on my Instagram when I announced that my story had been accepted, it had been a minute since I wrote for something other than HJ, Netflix Life, Trip Sided, or the occasional Chicken Soup for the Soul submission. I wanted to test my limits and see what might happen.
Thanks to a couple of things, including the start of Nashville’s Winterpocalypse Week 2021 on Valentine’s Weekend, time presented itself and I was able to pound out a submission. Which I zapped to Amanda on February 13.
I didn’t have to wait long to hear if I got accepted either. Yesterday she let me know that she was pleased to inform me that my piece, “How to Conjure the Spirit of Charles Dickens in the Haunted Mirror at the Omni Parker House,” would be included in the publication. Which will have a forward by Patti Negri.
Who, funnily enough, sparked a post earlier this year when I wrote about the three freakiest Ghost Adventures/Patti Negri moments in the Cecil Hotel episode.
Anyway, The Feminine Macabre will be a journal of women exploring tarot, the occult, dark history, witchcraft, ghosts and more! It’s due out March 2021.
I’ll be sure to post an update when it’s available.
