How did we become a country full of hatriots? No. That’s not a misspelling, Grammarly. It’s a new word that Webster should add to the dictionary. It really sums up what the United States is rapidly devolving into.
I saw it in a tweet that at first delighted me because it really summed up the hypocrisy of the Republican party, which I, like millions of others, am fed up with.
The Hatriots Tweet
I don’t want to hear NOT A SINGLE REPUBLICAN push for the removal of a woman’s right to choose because it’s “murder” but doesn’t give those lives any damn respect when they are slaughtered by their Holy Guns. #decapitated pic.twitter.com/AGxtZD8vRj

Exposed
Except, look at me resorting to taking delight in calling Republicans a new name. Attacking my fellow Americans isn’t being very patriotic either. And it’s sure not going to help anything by perpetuating the cycle.
Yet, “hatriots” most definitely sums up a certain part of the Republican party that is hellbent on vilifying Democrats and liberals in every way possible. Basically, they’re making their fellow Americans the enemy. That is as far from patriotic as you can get, so “hatriots” really fits.
That’s not to say Democrats don’t do it too. I’ll use myself as an example. In my last post, I called Republicans insane abortionists because of their stubborn stance on gun rights.
Which, let’s be clear. Have a gun. A pistol. A regular shotgun or rifle. But any kind of AR or military assault weapon? Anything with a high capacity magazine that’s capable of carnage? That’s not a need or a right. That’s a want. Bloodlust. It’s little kids wanting to play with big boy toys and destroy things.
For that, join the military. Which some have done, but most? They’d never be able to cut it. Take MTG as a perfect example. She likes to show off posing with guns but that’s all she is, a poser. She’d never survive actual military service.
Oh, and let’s not forget she recently said joining the military is like “throwing your life away.” Just because the legitimate president is in office, she’s actively discouraging enlistment, which does what? Weakens our country.
A true patriot would know that. A true American understands our country is a melting pot, not white Christians only. We are stronger together and weaker apart. Only anti-American, anti-patriots label their fellow Americans the enemy while actively seeking to cause chaos and disrupt unity. That’s hatriotism.
Hatriots, no matter their political affiliation, are not looking for real solutions or actually solving problems. They don’t believe in the ideals our Republic was founded on, nor do they have any respect for our democracy. They have one mission and one mission only: complete and total domination.
That should strike fear in any true American’s heart.
United
But how do we stop the name-calling and get back to making the States United again?
Well, more united than it has been in recent memory. We’ve always been a bit split, but we used to at least try and respect our differences, not ride roughshod over differing ones like we do now.
Because all of this disunity only weakens us as a nation. Heck, as humans.
I don’t have any solutions. Yet. But I’m searching in earnest.
I want to feel good, about myself and my country as a whole again, even those with views who oppose mine.
Michael Jackson ended his life as a controversial figure, but he made a lot of great music before that. I think “Man in the Mirror” is one of his most poignant songs. One with advice I always strive to incorporate into my own life, but that I need to do more than ever now.
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change
What about you? Any thoughts on how we make ourselves United again?
“Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.” — Samuel Johnson (1709-1784)
That would seem to make “Hatriotism” the FIRST refuge of a scoundrel.
So, where does that leave middle America?

I don’t know but that’s a fantastic question! (And great quote!)
